FAQ FAQ

Q What do you do while your triathlete is competing?
A There are SO MANY things to do. I like to meet people and cheer on other athletes. Everyone is so friendly. You can also sign up to be a volunteer at most events.

Q Where is the best place to stay if you have to stay overnight for an event?
A I found it best to stay as close to the venue as possible because it's sometimes difficult to find parking at events.

Q If you stay overnight, do you get up and watch your triathlete swim?
A HECK YES! No matter how early it is. Just throw on some clothes and run out to the swim start. If you're close enough you can go back to your hotel, take a quick shower and run out to see the transition. It's SO EXCITING! And... no matter what they say, they need you there.

Q How do I know where my triathlete is at an IM race?
A Take your laptop or call a friend who has a computer on race day. You can log on to the IM website and have a text message sent to your cell phone everytime your athlete crosses a transition mat. It's very cool. I found that, depending on your service provider, the text may be delayed.

Q What do you do while your triathlete is competing in smaller venues?
A I hang out and meet people. I always take money and see if I can buy one of the extra t-shirts from the event so we have the same shirt (normally about $10.) I take my camera and take pictures.

Q Does your triathlete's training interfere with your daily routine?
A My triathlete is my spouse and we created a new routine when he became a triathlete. Triathlon is a lifestyle. We love it!

Q What can I do to make my triathlete feel important during a race?
A CHEER THEM ON! Think of how you feel when something is really challenging for you and imagine what you would want someone else to say to you! Make them feel like a ROCK STAR! It's infectious! It makes me feel good to cheer on my spouse.
